To-Do Tuesday

Good gosh…last week I said it had been a rough week, but sheesh…this last week has been a doozy as well! Aside from issues with my Dad (he still needs prayer, so keep it up!), I picked my kids up from school Friday to start our week & K#2 was running a fever. Here it is Monday night, and she’s been running a fever on and off since Friday. To top that, T’s school called today because she was running a fever & I had to go pick her up from school. K#1 came home with a major attitude and sounding like she’s hacking up a lung, and Greg came home from work this evening feeling icky as well. So far, Grayson and I are the only well ones…I’m hoping to keep it that way! In addition to all that nonsense, my step-dad’s sister’s boyfriend, Rus, had what they thought was an aneurysm last Friday while they were driving down the road. He had bleeding in his brain, was life-flighted to a different hospital, then they couldn’t find where the blood was coming from. He had surgery today. Most of my info has come from my mom through texts, so it’s pretty spotty at best. The next 4 days are crucial she says…if he has a spasm he can die, so keep him in your prayers too. So, for me to say ‘I’m exhausted’ is an understatement. On to my mostly recycled from last week list!
1. BLOG! I am totally ashamed that I have neglected my sweet little blog and all my awesome readers since last Wednesday.
2. Read – daily quiet time & finish library book.
3. Not freak out and tackle the UPS man when he delivers my mini laptop on Tuesday.
4. ,s>Get my family un-sick!!!
5. Wrap Grayson’s Christmas presents if he takes a nap this week.
6. Finish taping off at the church so we can start painting a totally sweet design in the kids area.
7. Catch up on reviews…especially Sensa, PureVia, Softsoap Body Wash, and Bounce Bar!
8. Get back on flylady routine…fell off the wagon last week.
9. Try to be positive & encouraging to my Dad. (Please pray for his marriage.)
10. Work on getting blog transferred over…with the help of genius programmer hubby. *fingers crossed for this week!*

To-Do Tuesday

This week and past weekend have been rough. My Dad is going through some serious marital problems, and there is nothing I can do. I convinced him to come stay with me rather than be alone at his house, but it’s been a battle to keep him here. I. am. exhausted. I am to the point where his sorrow is getting to me and getting me down…this gloomy, rainy weather isn’t helping the situation either. I am forcing myself to do what I know…pray and continue with my life as usual. So, here is my list for this week.

1. Declutter!
2. Read – daily quiet time & finish library book.
3. Return Redbox movie…free rental is only free if you remember to return the movie on time!
4. Take Grayson to the library & return library books.
5. Wrap Grayson’s Christmas presents if he takes a nap this week.
6. Catch up on housework.
7. Catch up on reviews.
8. Get back on flylady routine…fell off the wagon last week.
9. Try to be positive & encouraging to my Dad. (Please pray for his marriage.)
10. Work on getting blog transferred over…with the help of genius programmer hubby.

Here Fishy, Fishy!

Daddy bought Grayson a fishing pole…even let him pick it out. Surprise, surprise, he picked a Spiderman pole. Using the little practice weighted fish, he taught Grayson how to reel in a whopper right in our living room.
We then headed down to the river. (The trip was originally going to be just Daddy & Grayson, but who would fall in the water getting wet up to their knees when they didn’t notice the tide rising trapping them on a tiny island capture every adorable moment?)
Grayson was enjoying reeling in Dad’s first cast, and caught a large blob of weeds and muck. He was excited even though it wasn’t a fish.
Next cast, he got a bite. Daddy helped him reel in the whopper!
He was very excited and even touched it. Later Grayson was talking about the fish he caught and he kept saying ‘Thomas Rainbow Spots’. After a little confusing conversation with Grayson, we realized he had named the fish he caught.
The rest of the afternoon, the guys just enjoyed each other’s company and the peacefulness of the river.
I am so thankful to have a husband who is a good Christian man, a man who is a wonderful role model for his son, a man who enjoys his role in life, and is great at his job as husband, father, and friend.

Vaseline Sheer Infusion *REVIEW & GIVEAWAY*

A couple weeks ago, I was asked to participate in a review of Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3 body lotion. I was pretty excited about doing this review because our family uses a lot of lotion…especially with winter coming. I am slightly OCD the kind of person who washes their hands at least a dozen times a day. Between dishes, laundry, Grayson’s bath, cooking, regular cleaning, etc., it seems as though I am constantly washing & drying my hands. It has totally taken a toll on my skin, and I have had a hard time finding a good lotion to help repair the damage…until now.

Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3 claims to be a breakthrough in moisturizing technology, and I couldn’t agree more. It stands out from your typical lotion because it caters to all the layers of your skin, not just the top. You can check out this video to see an artistic explanation of how it works.

Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3 is available in 3 varieties: Vitamin Burst, Botanical Blend, and Mineral Renewal, and comes in 2 sizes – 6.8 oz. bottle & 13.5 oz. pump bottle running from around $7 – $12. (You can get a coupon for $1.50 off HERE.) I can honestly say, this is the best lotion I have ever used. All 3 varieties have a nice scent…Mineral Renewal being the most feminine. In my opinion (and my husband’s), the least feminine is the Vitamin Burst, and it is my husband’s favorite…he’s already confiscated it. I don’t really have a favorite, but am leaning more towards the Botanical Blend. The scent lasts hours after applying…it’s a little strong, but I can live with it. All varieties moisturize wonderfully and leave no greasy residue. I’ve also noticed that I don’t need to reapply every time I wash my hands, which I absolutely love. I’ve been using this lotion for about a week now, and my skin is so soft. The damage to my hands is almost completely gone, and the dry skin on my legs, feet, and elbows is now silky smooth.

On to the giveaway! RocketXL was kind enough to send an extra bottle of each variety of Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3 for one of my lucky readers! Thrifty Thursday

This week was RIDICULOUSLY awesome for me in the thrifty department. I made 2 trips to Walgreen’s (one using hubby for another transaction), and a trip to Old Navy.

On my first trip to Walgreen’s, I was accompanied by Greg. Because of this, we could double up on stuff & do separate transactions. (It actually ended up being 3 transactions because the RR weren’t printing for anything but the chapstick when we went in the first time, so all we got was 1 chapstick each & the toothbrushes…LAME.) We went back after church and got all that we needed since they fixed the problem with the RR. So, I’m combining those 3 transactions into one blob…here’s the rundown.

Walgreen’s Drain Opener – 3.49 (needed it, and it didn’t work…total waste of $)
Oral-B Toothbrush – $3 x 2 = $6 ($3 RR each) = FREE (we’ll receive these in the mail after we send in the form w/ receipt)
Blue Diamond Almonds – 3.49 x 4 = 13.96 – 6.98 (B1G1 Free) = 4/6.98 (Greg wanted these…I figured he deserved it for accompanying me to WG.)
Chapstick – 2.99 x 3 = 8.97 ($3 RR each) = FREE
Herbal Essences Hair Gel – 2.99 – $1 coupon = 1.99 ($2 RR) = FREE
Newspaper – .75 (for coupon inserts)
Emergen-C Shots – 3.49 x 2 = 6.98 ($3.50 RR each) = FREE
Robitussin To-Go 2pk. – 2.49 x 2 = 4.98 ($2.50 RR each) = FREE
Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion – 6.99 x 2 = 13.98 – (2) 1.50 coupon = 10.98 ($7 RR each) = $3 Moneymaker
Tennis Balls – 3.99 (For Greg to play tennis with the guys.)
Trip 1 total = 54.01 (after coupons & RR from previous week) + it printed $37 in RR + I’ll get $6 in the mail. So everything above ended up costing us $11.01 after taxes.
For trip #2 my friend Sarah & I hit the Walgreen’s in Jonesboro. We went to Jonesboro to shop at Old Navy…for a bit of a change of pace from the one in Branson, since we have depleted it of everything we like. We used the plan from STLMommy’s site as a general guideline.
The Office Trivia game – 3.74 (totally couldn’t pass that one up…LOVE The Office!)
Gillette Embrace Razor – 7.99 – $2 coupon = 5.99 ($4 RR) = 1.99
Gillette Fusion Razor – 8.99 – $4 coupon = 4.99 ($6 RR) = $1 Moneymaker
Starbucks Chocolate Truffles – 1.59 (these were on clearance & I have a weakness for chocolate and/or coffee)
Halls Refresh – $1 – .75 coupon = .25 ($1 RR) = .75 Moneymaker
Robitussin To-Go 2pk – 2.49 (2.50 RR) = FREE
Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion – 6.99 – 1.50 coupon = 5.49 ($7 RR) = 1.50 Moneymaker
Chapstick 2.99 ($3 RR) = FREE
Sally Hansen Fingernail Polish – 2.79 x 2 = 5.58 – $3 coupon = 2.58
Emergen-C Shots – 3.49 (3.50 RR) = FREE
I also used a $5/$25 Walgreen’s coupon.
Trip 2 total = 31.22 after all coupons (there was a .50 coupon on my receipt and I have no idea what it was for) + it printed $27 in RR. So…everything from trip 2 cost me 4.22 after taxes.
Next up is one of my FAVORITE stores ever…Old Navy. I had a $50/$100 coupon from Oldnavyweekly.com last week, and since spending $50 at Old Navy is not in my budget, I grabbed a friend (Sarah) to split it with. Here’s the rundown of my half…
Space Monkey & Robot Pajamas for Grayson – Reg. 14.50/ea, on sale for 2/$20, after coupon 5.06/each
Cinch Waist Jacket for me – Reg. 39.50, on sale for 22.49, special extra 50% off = 11.24, after coupon 5.68
Belted Cargo Pants for Greg – Reg. 34.50, on sale for 17.99, after coupon 8.89
Travel Lotion – Reg. 3.50/ea, on sale for 2.49/ea, after coupon 1.26/ea
My total before tax = 28.47
And now…Alice.com. I periodically check the deals at Alice.com since there is free shipping, and whaddya know, I had a gift certificate…again.
I got Downy Wrinkle Releaser, 2 Hills Bros. Cappucino, & 3 boxes of AZO Tabs…for FREE!
Last, but not least…Schwan’s. I received my FREE gallon of Butter Pecan Ice Cream last Thursday. I keep forgetting it is in there since we rarely have ice cream in the house, which is probably a good thing! The first 500,000 new customers get to order a free food item from a list…I picked ice cream. =) Go HERE to check it out!
