Life

Well, as you have probably noticed, my poor blog has been neglected.  Life took over my time, and I have totally not been doing what I want to be doing.  Rather, I have been doing what has to be done and that is it.  It is extremely frustrating.  Since school is winding down for 3/4 of my kids, they seem to have lost their little minds.  Chores have been neglected, fighting, being sneaky, lying, have all become a normal occurrence.  I have had enough.  Over the next week (while they are with their other parents), we are coming up with a summer schedule, a new chore chart, and rewards plan.  I hope to make it fun & functional, and something that they can carry over into their lives at the other house(s) so that they can actually establish routines for once.  The main focus will be earning their allowance, computer/Wii time, along with coupons for fun stuff like going to the lake, staying up late, etc.  We tallied up their money for our trip and a certain someone is slightly upset that she has hardly any spending money.  I had to explain that when you don’t do your chores correctly, you don’t get paid, and when you break stuff & it needs to be repaired, it comes out of YOUR money, not mine.  Hopefully they will pull it together next week and make some money…plus these sudden behaviour issues are not gonna fly.

The hammer is dropping next week…who will survive!? ;)

I also plan on buckling down and getting back into my bloggy groove.  There are alot of things I need to fix on here, and hopefully I will be able to get my husband to help me.  Seems that I am the last person that gets to benefit from his programming genius. ;) I also have a birthday party to finish planning for my soon-to-be 10 year old. *gasp* Has it really been that long? Doesn’t seem possible.  So, be prepared for some actual content in the upcoming weeks! I’m so excited! =)

Freschetta Pizza WINNER(S)!

Well, I only had 3 entries on my FREE Freschetta FlatBread Pizza giveaway. I guess people don’t like FREE pizza. I wish I had 3 coupons, but I only have 2.  Since there were only 3 entries, I just wrote the names down on 3 slips of paper and randomly drew 2 names.  The winners are…

Lisa & Nicolette!

Thanks for entering!  I have e-mailed both winners for their addresses.  Thanks again for reading & entering this giveaway!  Don’t forget to check out the Dove Ultimate Review & Giveaway I have going on! =)

Freschetta Pizza ~ REVIEW & Giveaway!

Freschetta FlatBread

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Freschetta. All opinions are 100% mine.

I received coupons for FREE Freschetta Pizza from the great people over at Social Spark & Freschetta a little over a week ago for me to be able to try & review the pizza.  Last night we tried the new Zesty Italian FlatBread.  Typically, I am not a fan of thin crust, but this pizza was excellent.  It was nice & crispy, the toppings were delicious, and it only took about 10 minutes as opposed to around 25 with a thick crust.  If you are a fan of thin crust, I would HIGHLY recommend this pizza.  My only complaint is that with thin crust, it is simply not enough food.  The package says it serves 3 people, but there’s no way.  I ate 1/2, my 3 year old had 1/4, and my husband had 1/4 + 2 hamburgers.  Granted, my husband eats like a horse, but I figured myself & a 3 year old would kinda balance that out. We have eaten Freschetta in the past, and I must say that my favorite is a toss up between the Brick Oven Italian Pepperoni and the PizzAmore Supreme.  You can get a $1 off coupon HERE and try it for yourself!

Or you can enter to win a coupon for a FREE Freschetta Pizza! This giveaway is short & will only run for a little over 48 hours because the coupons expire May 31st. I will choose 2 winners from the comments via random.org.

To enter: (Leave a separate comment for EACH entry…make sure I have a way to contact you!)

1. Leave a comment about pizza…how much you like it, your favorite toppings, etc. (unlimited entries as long as you stay on topic)

2. Follow me on twitter & tweet about this giveaway. *make sure you use the hashtag #Freschetta (unlimited entries – leave link to tweet in your comment)

That’s it!  I will draw a winner at NOON CST on Saturday, May 22, 2010.  Winner will have 24 hours to respond to e-mail with mailing address or I will choose another winner.  Who wouldn’t LOVE FREE pizza? Get out there & spread the word! =)

Dove ‘Piticure’ ~REVIEW & GIVEAWAY!~

WARNING: IF ARM PITS GROSS YOU OUT, DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW! ;)

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Brian with Rocket XL regarding Dove’s ‘Piticure’ Campaign.  I know you’ve heard of ‘Pedicures’ and ‘Manicures’, but ‘Piticure’? What the heck is that? Yep, you guessed it…pampering for your pits. Think about it…do you ever actually think about the condition of your skin under your arms unless it’s either irritated, hairy or stinky? Who would have ever thought to pamper the skin under your arms? Uh…Dove?! I was seriously sceptical at first and then I actually went through the steps they suggested. And guess what? My under arm skin was everything they said it would be. Non-stinky, smooth, moisturized…awesome.  Typically, I’m not a stinky person (or so I’ve been told), but I really like the scent of Secret Clinical Strength so I’ve been using that the past few months.  Only problem was that it irritated my skin…almost made it feel burned.  When I was contacted by Rocket XL, I was more than happy to try out a new deodorant.  They sent me 2 deodorants to try & review…along with links to the ‘Piticure’ Campaign.  If I were to review it properly, I, of course, had to go through all the steps.  After watching the following video, I followed the instructions exactly.

The steps that were suggested were simple.

1. Gently exfoliate & cleanse.

2. Shave.

3. Pat dry & apply Dove Ultimate.

I was also very surprised by some of the interesting facts I learned…such as:

  • Shaving reduces the top layer of skin by 20 percent, and can result in irritation and skin dryness.
  • As a result of shaving, underarm skin loses 50 percent more water, which can cause dryness and inflammation.

Also, Dove Ultimate has a tri-moisturizing system:
• Humectant – works like a magnet to hold in moisture under the skin’s surface, keeping delicate underarm skin conditioned
• Occlusive Layer – forms a layer on the surface of the skin to prevent moisture loss, which can cause dryness
• Nourishing Moisturizer – Contains natural sunflower oil that is known to help boost the skin’s natural moisture barrier to soothe shaving irritation and help deliver soft, smooth underarm skin with Dove 1/4 Translucent Moisturizers™

In the past, I really had given no thought to my underarm skin unless it was giving me a problem.  I can honestly say that since taking part in the Dove ‘Piticure’ Campaign, that is no longer the case.  Caring for this area of skin has become just as important as any other part of my body, and I am extremely pleased with the results.  Dove Ultimate – Sheer Silk & Light Radiance are both wonderful scents.  My husband prefers Sheer Silk, but I favor Light Radiance.  I apply in the morning after my shower, and it lasts all day/night with no white marks on my clothing.  My skin is smooth & moisturized, and feels healthy.  It even seems as though it’s less irritating to shave.  I’m not sure if that is due to the moisturizing of the deodorant or the exfoliating I’ve been doing, but either way, my daily ‘piticure’ is helping in more ways than one.  Now on to the give away!

The wonderful people from Dove & Rocket XL are sponsoring a giveaway for a package Dove Ultimate Anti-perspirant/Deodorant. It will be shipped to the winner directly from Rocket XL.  To enter (leave a separate comment for EACH entry):

1. Leave a comment stating what deodorant you currently use. (1 entry)

2. Follow me on Twitter & tweet the following message: ‘Mani? Pedi? How about a Piti? Check out the review & giveaway for Dove Ultimate Deodorant at Life@30ish! http://lifeat30ish.com/?p=327′ (unlimited entries)

3. Follow my blog on Facebook & post about this giveaway. (unlimited entries)

4. Post about this giveaway on Myspace. (unlimited entries)

This giveaway will run from NOON May 19, 2010 – NOON June 3, 2010.  I will choose a winner from the comments via random.org at NOON CST June 3, 2010.  The winner will have 48 hours to respond with their shipping address or I will choose an alternate winner.  Thanks for entering & good luck! =)

To-Do Tuesday ~ Week 16ish

Okay, so I’ve been a total slacker on my blog. Upside is that I’ve been getting alot done around my house. I’m almost back into the cleaning/FlyLady groove, been doing well on the budgeting, reading my bible, our vacation plans are coming along nicely, and I’ve been spending alot of quality time with my family. I have noticed that I have the time to blog, but have been using it for other things *cough* Facebook *cough*…which I plan on cutting back a bit on. It’s insane how those little games can be so addicting! My to-do lists have become outrageous, so I think I’m gonna tone it down a notch. (I have daily to-do lists that I post on a dry erase board by my front door…these are the ones that have become out of control.)

Plus, even though our vacation isn’t until July…I have vacation brain. It’s all I can think about. So excited to go back to Florida!! It’s been 7 years!

1. Get back to the gym! (I need to lose about 5-10 more pounds to be ready for the beach!)
2. Start working on organizing & purging the craft closet.
3. Finish up & post reviews & a giveaway this week!
4. Decide on & order a bathing suit.
5. List more things on Listia!
6. Coordinate schedules w/ Florida family…gotta squeeze in as much family time as possible!
7. Prepare/plan summer routines for kids.

Permanent To-Do’s

1. Stick with the Family Challenges!
2. Stick to weekly menu plan.
3. Keep up with/follow budget using mint.com.
4. Remember to update progress on To-Do List!
5. Become consistent with working out in the gym and/or EA Active.
6. Keep flying with the FlyLady!

I ‘stole’ the following from Crazy Adventures in Parenting…the fearless leader of To-Do Tuesday. =)

Would you like to join us this week for To-Do Tuesday? Start with just a few things. Don’t over-do it your first couple of times. You’ll grow to become a list-a-holic later, start small now, though, k?
Just so you know, you can join us at anytime, it doesn’t have to be on Tuesdays – the list will go up every Tuesday for you to link to, but you can make your list and link to us at any point in the week!

Remember, with “To-Do Tuesday”, we’re attacking our to-do lists each week, blogging about our lists and what we’ve got going on, and sharing it with each other to help keep each other accountable. Everyone should come back here to link up in the MckLinky as the central “To-Do Tuesday Hub” so we can visit who’s participating and offer encouragement to each other throughout the week. Don’t forget to add the “To-Do Tuesday” button to your post, linking back to this post!

Let’s continue to cross items off our list as we go and help support each other in completing our lists! Don’t forget my useful HTML tutorial on how to effectively “cross-out” or √ “check off” your items on your to-do list!

Joining us? We’re using a new linky alternative called MckLinky! Please add your link below (to your To Do Tuesday post, and not the main page of your blog).

Beautyfix.com ~REVIEW~

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Caitlin from Rocket XL about reviewing the Beautyfix.com system. My beauty routine and products are lacking, so I was quite excited to test it out! I received the Spring 2010 Beautyfix in return for my honest opinion of the system and products. (There is also a special offer available for my readers. Yeah!)

Beautyfix.com is an exclusive beauty club that offers a different package of beauty products each season. The way it works is when you become a member, you complete your personal profile. Then their panel of beauty experts suggest products for you based on the information you put into your profile. You choose 8 products from the ones listed and that’s it! It costs $49.99/season and shipping is always FREE. The products are high quality, and there is a pretty good variety. Here’s a quick video highlighting the beauty experts…

The products I chose were:

Bella Bronze ~ Golden Chamomile and Goats Milk Self Tanner (It had the expected strange odor of self tanners, made my skin a really nice golden color, but was streaky. I was very careful to apply evenly and to rub in completely, but I had blotches and streaks. It may just be me, but that was my experience.)

Bella Bronze ~ Face Tanner (Since I was streaky from the other tanner, I was afraid to use this one on my face. I’m giving both to a friend…hopefully they’ll have better luck applying it.)

Canyon Ranch Your Transformation ~ Balance Light Weight Moisture (This is a moisturizer that I really like. It comes in a pump and it works well for my skin type.)

Raw Natural Beauty ~ Mineral Eye Shadow Trio (I LOVE this eye shadow. It is a powder and comes in little shakers and you use make-up brushes to apply. My only issue is that I am messy and end up spilling a little every time I use it. It goes on smoothly and is my favorite item out of the whole box.)

Hair Therapy Wrap ~ Hair Therapy Wrap – Brown

Alchimie Forever ~ Helium Body Conditioner (I really liked this stuff. It has a ‘fancy’ scent – Rosemary/Green Tea like it comes from a high end store. It works the same as the Olay In-shower Body Lotion I mentioned in a previous review.)

iQ Derma ~ Glacial Hydrating Mask (This was NOT for me. I’ve had reactions to facial masks in the past, so I should have known to avoid this one. It says to leave it on for 10 minutes, that it has a cooling sensation, and is hypoallergenic. The cooling sensation was intense, I washed it off well before 10 minutes, and within 5 minutes or so (after I rinsed) I had red whelps on over half my face, which disappeared after a few hours…tried it on my husband, no whelps…he said it made shaving easier & he really liked it.)

iQ Derma ~ Smartlash (This stuff is to promote eyelash growth. Since this is an over-time product, I don’t know if it is working or not. You apply it like an eyeliner 2x a day…which I can never seem to remember to do.)

I also received a Beautyfix Large Cosmetics Bag…which I desperately needed. It fits all my make-up, beauty ‘tools’ (brushes, eyelash curler, tweezers, etc.), moisturizers, and has room to spare. It seems quite durable and even looks cool.

Overall, I was happy with my Beautyfix box. I think the combined value of the items included is well worth $49.99. I plan on using my $25 glow.com certificate soon and posting a review on that as well. One complaint I did have was shipping time. I placed my order on March 22nd, I received a shipping notification on March 29th, it didn’t actually ship until April 6th, and I received the box on April 14th. It was securely packaged, and some of the items even showed retail pricing…the Smartlash retails at $125!

There are other member benefits as well:
By sharing your opinion (via a short survey) of 2 or more products, you will receive a $25 off $50 order to glow.com gift certificate.
There are member only discounts to glow.com.
You get personalized recommendations from a panel of experts.
There are new products quarterly.
And there is a referral system… For every person that you refer (limit of 5 per season), you receive a $10 credit. That means if 5 of your referrals register, your next Beautyfix is FREE!

As a special for my wonderful readers, Beautyfix.com is offering a discount for your first Beautyfix. When you use the promo code: BFIX5, it will give you $30 off the $49.99 price for the Beautyfix Spring 2010 season! You’ll be able to get your Spring Beautyfix for only $19.99 + FREE shipping!

Check it out for yourself at Beautyfix.com, or on Facebook, or on Twitter. Be sure to come back here and leave your feedback on your Beautyfix experience! =)

Lunchables ~ “Field Trips For All” Campaign

Field Trips For All

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Lunchables. All opinions are 100% mine.
Lunchables is sponsoring a really cool program called Project Potential, with it’s first project being “Field Trips For All”. The goal is to empower kids with opportunities to help them reach their full potential by providing them with experiences they might not otherwise have. For instance…what kid would have the opportunity to secretly view alien life forms? Check out this video…my kids would love to attend a field trip like this.

I remember going on field trips as a child, and it was always a great experience. Here’s a fact for you…According to a 2009 report from The American Association of School Administrators, it’s estimated that over the course of the current school year, the number of school districts eliminating field trips will increase by 56 percent. That’s more than 30,000 schools! Kids deserve the opportunity to experience a way to learn outside of the classroom.

If you agree with me, that kids should have the occasional opportunity to learn outside the classroom while having fun, then go HERE to nominate a classroom! I nominated my daughter’s class because they are a wonderful group of kids and I think it would really help them understand their study on history if they had a little ‘hands on’ experience. It would be a great way for them to see and understand the way things actually were during different time periods rather than just reading about it.

When you nominate a class, be sure to come back and leave a comment stating who you nominated…that way we can all cheer each other on! Good luck!
